The Type 92 was developed by Japan for aerial use as ancillary defense on larger, multi-crew aircraft. Chambered for the 7.7mm Arisaka round and installed on flexible mounts, it proved to be seriously inadequate in practice. In essence, a copy of the Lewis Machine Gun, it saw use in the following aircraft.
