Japanese aircraft in War Thunder are often regarded as the most agile aircraft. Aircraft such as the Ki-43 and A6M Zeros possess the quickest turn time of the fighters in War Thunder, often allowing Japanese fighters to win turn-fight engagements. This trait is found (at least, to an extent) in all Japanese aircraft. This does however come at a price, as Japanese aircraft are very fragile, and lack self sealing fuel tanks, meaning that if set on fire, it's rare they will be able to survive it.

Due to their historical role, many Japanese fighters are carrier aircraft.

Japanese bombers keep many of the traits of the fighters. They are often not the strongest and are very agile for bombers. They may usually be able to out maneuver other planes who are engaging them.

All in all, Japanese fighters are often the most agile and quite well armed, this is balanced by being fragile and having low armor. Bombers on the other hand are very agile and are well armed, but lack serious bomb loads. The heavy bombers trade their maneuverability for a larger payload. The Japanese aircraft tree favors dog fighting, especially "turn fighting". However, they are poor energy fighters due to the limitations of Japanese engines.
