Tank destroyers are a class of tanks specifically designed to engage and destroy enemy tanks, often with limited operational capabilities. Usually with a fixed superstructure, fitted with large weapons, and well-armored at the cost of mobility and awareness. While Assault guns are identical, their combat role differs. The latter operated in fortifications and provided close infantry support. Regardless, assault guns can perform anti-tank duties. This design, however, comes with a disadvantage; the lack of a fully rotatable turret requiring the hull to rotate and open-top chassis highly vulnerable to fighter aircraft and artillery.
